Port City Optometry, PLLC is a new optometry office in Wilmington, NC. However, the eye doctor is not new to this area. Dr. Rasika Whitesell has been serving the greater Wilmington area for over 8 years for all your eye care needs.
At our office, we firmly believe in treating our patients how we would treat our own family members. We strive to give you the best care in a safe and inviting environment.

Meet Your Doctor
Dr. Rasika Whitesell is a true native to the area. She was raised in Wilmington, NC since age 11. She attended Roland Grise Middle School and Hoggard High School, Go Vikings! She then went to NC State University graduating Cum Laude in 2009 with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry.
Dr. Whitesell obtained her doctorate of optometry from University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Optometry in 2013. During her time there she gained an extensive knowledge about primary eye care, fitting soft and hard contact lenses, ocular disease, pediatric vision care, and low vision rehabilitation.
She now practices to the fullest extent that she can in the state of NC. She provides care for patients with cataracts, dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions caused by systemic diseases.
Dr. Whitesell is certified by the State Board of Examiners in Optometry to treat and manage ocular diseases and is a member of the North Carolina Optometric Society (NCOS) as well as the American Optometric Association. She serves as a NC Trustee to the NCOS and was awarded NC Young OD of the Year in 2020. She also enjoys providing educational lectures to colleagues as a speaker. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and 2 sons.
